Tucked in its crescent-shaped bay on Nicaragua’s southern Pacific coast, this town just ten years ago seemed destined to continue as a sleepy fishing village. But today San Juan del Sur’s streets are lined with hotels, shops and real estate agencies. Four-wheel-drive cars cruise through town collecting groceries and other supplies for private beach homes and resorts along the coast. And small wonder. At last count, in 2006, no less than 47 residential development projects were under construction in and around San Juan del Sur.
